What does a small business owner need to know about recruiting their first employees?

Many business owners wait to hire help until they feel they can afford to do so, which for many is far too long. If you hire the right person, he or she will more than pay for himself or herself in a very short period, which will free you up to do the things that bring more money into the business. As the business owner, your time is best spent bringing in business and managing the company, enabling the business to become more profitable. All other tasks should be completed by others who may not only be better at it, but can also do it at a lower cost to the business.

Also remember that you get what you pay for. Hiring low cost staff can also be a mistake. Take the time to hire the right person. If necessary, hire an employment agency to help assure you hire the right person for the job at an appropriate rate of pay.
