Why Americans of Retirement Age May Be Choosing Not to Retire Even When They Can Afford To Do So

Some people find in their work a sense of identity with who they are. Others enjoy the structure that a work week provides. Stepping out of that comfort zone and into retirement, for some is a scary thought. They question what they will do with the 40 plus hours a week they will have on their hands and where the money will come from to provide the lifestyle they have become accustom to. The answer for some is to continue working and stay with “what they know” rather than deal with the uncomfortable unknown.

There is life after work. And it can be better than the one you knew. Looking at it as an opportunity to have the freedom to experience a new and better life for yourself, can help the transition to be an exciting one.
