Where Should you Hold Firm and Hold Out For What you Want?
I suggest holding onto the things that have real long-term emotional connection and meaning to you, such as things handed down to you from your family, awards you may have earned and the like. Remember that family photos, DVDs, and tapes can be duplicated. So there is no need to fight over these since you can both have a copy. For everything else, the relationship is more important than the actual item. Receiving either the actual item itself such as furniture, the car, technology, etc. or enough cash or investments to buy the item, should be fine either way.
Consult with your attorney or mediator for what is best in your particular situation.
