What I Wish Someone Would Have Told Me When Starting my Business
I wish someone would have told me to think more about “the big picture” and the future of my business instead of focusing on how to get by day to day. In many businesses, there is a lag time between when you first see a customer or client and when the check actually comes in. If you constantly work on today, next week or next month, it will be near impossible to build the future of the business to it’s true potential and just as important to do it in a reasonable period of time. Put time in your schedule every week to do nothing but work on the business and not just working in it. A good rule of thumb is to spend 20% of your work week to set your vision for where you want the business to be in 1, 3 and 5 years, putting a plan in place for how you will get there and to make the changes necessary to get you there. If you allow nothing to get in the way of what you need to do during this allocated time, success can be yours and much more quickly than you thought possible.
